Wine making has always been an essential part of the Bulgarian culture and has a centuries-old tradition that originated in the time of the Thracians, who held great respect for wine. They used it for their religious rituals because they believed it would bring them closer to their gods. We will help you create your ultimate Bulgarian experience based on the essences and emotions conveyed by the finest wine varieties, which you cannot find anywhere else in the world. Let us agree with the sommeliers that as far as wine taste is concerned there is not a right answer. It is for each person to taste, to understand, to feel. Let yourself be carried away by the sensations of the Bulgarian wine – a true food for the soul.
DAY 1 / WELCOME TO SOFIA!
Upon arrival at Sofia Airport you will be welcomed by our English speaking guide who will escort you during the trip. We will suggest to you a glass of Bulgarian wine in one of the best wineries in Sofia. Depending on the time of your arrival a sightseeing tour of Sofia will be arranged so that you can get your first impressions from the Bulgarian capital city. At dinner we will enjoy a rich variety of local dishes washed down with a selection of red wines in a restaurant with traditional Bulgarian atmosphere.

DAY 2 / SOFIA & PLOVDIV
Today we will travel east to the heart of South Bulgaria. Our first stop will be the Bachkovo Monastery, among the biggest and most impressive sanctuaries within the territory of the country. The talent of the skilful icon painters is reflected in the beauty of the masterpieces on the walls and the intricate iconostasis of the monastery church.
Our next stop will be a distinguished wine cellar nearby the city of Plovdiv. Here, in the cosy folklore-styled winery you will sample red wines from the South-Bulgarian Region accompanied by mouth-watering appetizers and a traditional folklore show.
In the afternoon we will arrive in Plovdiv and make a short sightseeing tour in the Old Town. Our dinner today will be in a traditional Bulgarian restaurant and will be accompanied by red wines and Bulgarian spirits.

DAY 3 / PLOVDIV, KARLOVO & THE VILLAGE OF KMETOVTSI
We will start the day with a panoramic tour of Plovdiv. Before noon we will travel to Karlovo and the Valley of the Roses region. Here we will visit a local winery where we will have a wine tasting session of the typical for this region Red Misket along with other white wine varieties.
In the afternoon we will cross the gorgeous Balkan Range through the picturesque Shipka Pass. En route we will not miss visiting the Shipka Memorial Church in the village of Shipka.

DAY 4 / THE VILLAGE OF KMETOVTCI, THE VILLAGE OF BOJENTSI, ARBANASSI
Our first stop today will be the picturesque village of Bojentsi where we will take in the authentic Bulgarian atmosphere from the National revival period reflected in the architecture of the houses and the welcoming smiles of the locals. Then we will travel north through the vast Dnubian plain. We will visit one of the renowned wineries near Veliko Turnovo and taste some of the best wine varieties from the region.
In the late afternoon we will travel to the mountainous town of Arbanassi.

DAY 5 / ARBANASSI, VELIKO TURNOVO, SHUMEN & VARNA
We will start the day with the must -visit monuments of the unique village of Arbanassi – the Rojdestvo Christovo Church and the Konstantsalieva House. Then we will take a short trip to Veliko Turnovo, where we will learn about the bravery and pride in the history of the glorious Medieval capital and take a stroll down the preserved market street “Samovodska Charshia” with its authentic workshops and romantic old-time coffee houses. At noon we will enjoy a wine tasting nearby Veliko Turnovo followed by a visit of the country’s second capital Veliki Preslav preserved within the borders of a Historical and Archaeological reserve of national importance. Next we will travel to the city of Varna on the Bulgarian North Black Sea Coast. En route we will stop in Shumen to pay a visit of the imposing Tombul Mosque - the biggest temple of its kind in Bulgaria and second in size on the Balkan Peninsula. Tonight we will have dinner at a traditional restaurant and indulge in the splendid sensation of the wines produced near Bulgaria’s maritime capital Varna.

DAY 6 / VARNA, NESSEBAR, POMORIE/BURGAS
We will dedicate this morning to the city of Varna. We will stroll down the spacious boulevards of the city centre passing by the shining domes of the Holy Virgin Cathedral, a masterpiece of the Russian Orthodox architecture from 1866 and take time to enjoy a cup of coffee in one of the numerous cafes downtown. Then we will head South along the scenic coastal motorway and cross the Eastern part of the Balkan mountain chain. Our highlight today will be the charming peninsula of the Old Town of Nesebar which has existed as an important maritime centre for more than 9000 years and it is today a cultural monument enclosed in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Then we will head toeards the nearby coastal town of Pomorie where we will have the chance to try some of the high quality wines from the Pomorie region, the most famous of which are ‘Dimyat’, ‘Tamyanka’, ‘Red Misket’.

DAY 7 / POMORIE/BURGAS, KOTEL, ZHERAVNA, SLIVEN & KOPRIVSHTITSA
Today we will leave the coastline and head towards the heart of South Bulgaria. Our first stop will be the town of Zheravna, an intriguing architectural reserve that enchants with its authentic atmosphere and consists of preserved Revival period houses. We will visit the Ethnographic museum and try the delicious local specialties for lunch. In the afternoon we will reach the town of Panagurishte where we will sample local wines in one of the cozy wine cellars in town. Then we will travel to Koprivshtitsa, a museum-town impressive with its revival architecture and authentic atmosphere.

DAY 8 / KOPRIVSTITSA, SOFIA
We will devote this morning to some of the most famous house-museums in Koprivshtitsa. After lunch we will travel back to Sofia where we will have a free afternoon to enjoy the city on our own. Our Farewell dinner will take place at a folklore restaurant in the capital.

DAY 9 / TRIP FINISHES IN SOFIA
Today after breakfast it will be time for us to say “Goodbye” with the promise to keep the beautiful memories we created together. . (breakfast)
